This is a full-time position with the Franklin County Clerk’s office – Monday thru Friday: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm located in Benton, Illinois
Job Summary:
– Assists all staff members when needed.
– Process mail-in requests for vital records or land records
– Look up vital records either on the computer or books
– Research recorded documents per a customer’s request
– Assists with organizing archival materials received in accordance with plan, including
preparing brief description of record type and location.
In addition to the Clerk duties, at appropriate seasons of the Election Office, this job, under general supervision, performs a variety of technical and administrative functions for the Franklin County Elections Department; processes voter registration applications and election ballots; maintains voter registration files; and performs other related duties as assigned.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Assist with developing and maintaining records retention schedules, including researching legal and regulatory requirements and business needs. Review records for compliance with retention schedules and for adherence to procedures and standards. Assists with updating and maintaining the archival record system and manual indexes. Prepare reports and perform special projects as assigned.
The Election Office, this job, maintains and updates voter registration and election databases, as well as assisting with general Election protocol and processing vote by mail.
Qualifications and Skills:
– A valid Driver’s License is required.
– Requires sufficient keyboarding experience to successfully perform essential job duties.
– Ability to communicate face-to-face and on the telephone.
– May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
– Proficient in data entry.
– Administrative experience preferred.
In addition to the following, this position would require, progressively responsible experience in large database management and technology, including operations in complex computer systems and data input. Must possess the functional skills necessary for the performance, maintenance and system improvements involved in all
aspects of voter registration and elections work. Must possess the ability to work with the public in stressful situations with civility, professionalism, and courtesy.
Principles and practices of elections, voter registrations, and managerial methods. Regulations and laws governing County election activities. Voter registration systems and elections equipment. Elections and voter registration records, reports, and documentation. A required adherence to all County policies and procedures.
Serving in each capacity within the offices as assigned. May require limited travel for the election portion of the job.
Starting Pay is up to $18.22 hourly plus benefits.
