MEDIA RELEASE
(BENTON-ILLINOIS) National Preparedness Month is an observance each September to raise awareness about the importance of preparing for disasters and emergencies that could happen at any time.
The Franklin County Emergency Management Agency’s Bureau of Preparedness has partnered with the University of Illinois Extension to conduct a countywide tour of events throughout Franklin County aimed to observe National Preparedness Month and highlight the preparedness, mitigation and prevention of emergencies. The public will be able to stop by any scheduled event and pick up information on how plan and prepare for emergencies, register to win a NOAA all-hazards alert radio, have any currently owned customer supplied NOAA radio programmed and check out program opportunities offered by U of I Extension.
