Coroner Leffler Issues Statement on West City Death Investigation

On January 25, 2018 at approximately 2:45 p.m., the West City Police Department wa contacted by a relative of the residents in a home located in the 400 block of South Central Street in West City, reporting a possible death.

Investigators discovered two adult subjects to be deceased inside the home. The Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigators were contacted to assist in processing the residence. The cause of death is under investigation at this time, however, the West City Police Department does not anticipate any foul play by a third party.

Franklin County Coroner, Marty Leffler, says the names of the deceased individuals are that of 86 year old, Billie Gene Aaron, and his 86 year old wife Wilma Louise Aaron.

Preliminary autopsy results reveal that both subjects died due to gunshot wounds. It appears the male subject shot the female subject before taking his own life. A note was found, written by the male subject.

Both were experiencing recent health issues.
